Jeffrey L. Wexler, M.D. is a board-certified member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and National Board of Medical Examiners, as well as, the Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He has served as a clinical instructor at the Wilmer Eye Institute of the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is Ophthalmology Chief Emeritus at Howard County General Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medicine. His specialties include complex cataract and glaucoma surgery, and laser surgery of the eyes. Dr. Wexler’s special interest is Refractive Vision Correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism and Minimally Invasive Surgery for Glaucoma.
Dr. Wexler performs advanced surgical management of eye diseases including, advanced cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and refractive surgery. He is an expert in difficult refractive errors and has performed thousands of refractive procedures including LASIK and EVO ICL. He has performed thousands of minimally invasive glaucoma procedures in order to free the patients from using topical glaucoma medications.
Dr. Wexler graduated with Distinction from Pennsylvania State University in 1982 with a B.S. in Microbiology. Dr. Wexler then received his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse in 1986. He completed his internship at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C, followed by residency training in Ophthalmology at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore where he served as Chief Resident from 1989-1990.
Dr. Wexler served as department head of ophthalmology at Howard County General Hospital from 1995-2018. Currently Dr. Wexler serves as the medical director of Snowden River Surgery Center in Columbia, Maryland.
Following residency training, Dr. Wexler joined Physicians Eye Care and Laser Center. As an Ophthalmologist, Dr. Wexler continues to do research, teach, and serves as a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry. He has helped thousands of patients attain their visual goals with medical and surgical treatments for cataract, glaucoma, and Refractive Vision Correction.
Dr. Wexler resides in Howard County with his wife and dogs. In his free time, Dr. Wexler can be found on the golf course or the fitness center.
