Dr. Dhannawat is a board certified ophthalmologist. She has a strong and diverse ophthalmic background having done her ophthalmology residency from the prestigious Aravind Eye Hospital in India and University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she was the chief resident in her final year. She has fellowship training in Pediatric ophthalmology from Mayo clinic and Glaucoma from UT Southwestern in Dallas.
Dr. Dhannawat believes in designing an individual treatment plan suited to the unique needs of each of her patients, to give the best possible outcome. She uses medical management, laser therapy and surgical management including traditional glaucoma surgeries like trabeculectomies and tube shunt along with newer minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries to treat her glaucoma patients.
She is also a comprehensive ophthalmologist and takes care of complete eye exams including diabetic eye disease, cataracts, dry eye syndrome, refractive errors needing spectacles and other eye disorders. Dr. Dhannawat offers cosmetic Botox to soften the appearance of frown lines and crows feet around the eyes. She also performs advanced cataract surgeries using phacoemulsification and femtosecond lasers.
Dr. Dhannawat is a member of several professional organizations including the American Glaucoma Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She has several publications in leading ophthalmic journals and has presented her research in many national conferences. She serves as topic editor for Dynamed- an electronic evidence based primary care database.
In her free time, Dr. Dhannawat likes to enjoy reading books, listening to music and spending time with her family.
