Dry eye syndrome is not my favorite term for a problem that could actually be more than one problem or an entirely different problem.
In its purest sense “dry eye syndrome “might better be called “poor quality” tear syndrome but that doesn’t sound very professional so we don’t say that.
Our tears consist of many ingredients some of which decrease as we mature or when we develop certain medical problems [some types of arthritis]. At physicians eyecare we evaluate your tear system [yes, there are different parts to our tear systems] and we come up with the possible causes and treatments that hopefully will make you comfortable and help with this annoying problem.
Sometimes “dry eyes” are not really dry eyes but actually eyelid problems with accompanying infections of the eyelid and the many oil glands located there. We study that too and if that is your problem or part of your problem we will work with you to make that problem go away.
So the problem may not be solved simply by using an over-the-counter drop. It needs to be studied by us so we can help you by using the correct treatment. Come see one of us for a thorough evaluation and care. We are committed to helping you see better and more comfortably.
